BALCO Medical Centre (BMC), a leader in oncology care in Central India, announced the 2nd Edition of the Annual BMC Chhattisgarh Cancer Conclave starting on Thursday.
The theme of the three-day conclave is “Choosing Wisely 2024 – Common Sense Oncology for outcomes that matter”. BMC aims to address the pressing issues of cancer care accessibility and quality, particularly in Central India. The conclave will also coincide with the fifth year of choosing wisely meeting to be held in India in collaboration with ecancer, Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai and National Cancer Grid.
“The inaugural BMC Chhattisgarh Cancer Conclave was a massive success”, said Dr Bhawna Sirohi, Medical Director of BALCO Medical Centre. She further added, “This year’s theme emphasises a patient-focused approach to cancer care that prioritises evidence, values, sustainability, and financial viability. The scientific agenda of the meeting will focus on key topics such as setting research priorities right, Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in India, patient advocacy, evidence generation, interpretation, and communication.
By bringing together global and regional experts, our aim is to drive quality and enable informed clinical decisions that align with the outcomes that truly matter to patients.”
In conjunction with the conference, a live surgical demonstration on Pancreatic and Gastric cancer will be held on 20th September at BALCO Medical Centre, Naya Raipur. For the first time, the event will also introduce a National Oncology Nursing Conclave, along with a diverse range of workshops.
In collaboration with the ecancer Global Foundation, the BMC Chhattisgarh Cancer Conclave aims to transform cancer education, offering physicians, nurses, researchers, and patient advocates a unique platform for knowledge exchange and skill enhancement.
The BMC Chhattisgarh Cancer Conclave is an annual flagship conclave of the BALCO Medical Centre situated in Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The event brings together leading oncologists, researchers, and healthcare professionals to discuss the latest advancements in cancer diagnosis, treatment, and care. It features expert panels, live surgical demonstrations, and specialized workshops to address emerging trends and challenges in oncology.
BALCO Medical Centre (BMC), a 170-bed state-of-the-art tertiary care Oncology facility in Naya Raipur, is the first flagship initiative of Vedanta Medical Research Foundation (VMRF). VMRF, a non-profit organization, is an initiative of Vedanta Resources and Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd. (BALCO) to contribute towards prevention of cancer and its related illnesses. Currently, it is fast emerging as a national leader in India’s oncology space including medical, surgical, radiation, haematological, BMT and palliative care.
