The second edition of Yukti Business Conclave organised by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur with the theme ‘Vikas Chatra’ – Building with Purpose started in the state capital of Chhattisgarh on Saturday.
The conclave, which will conclude on Sunday, had focused on aligning business strategies that support national development and benefit the environment and society. Yukti witnessed the presence of Chief Guest Kanika Garg, Entrepreneur, Ex-CDO Jio BlackRock, Ex-CPO TATA Group Entity, a renowned business leader known for empowering businesses, customers, and communities.
The inaugural session began with Prof Ramkumar M., Associate Professor and Chairperson, Students’ Affairs Committee (SAC), IIM Raipur, addressing the gathering and declaring the Business Conclave open. He explained how Yukti meant strategy and highlighted the importance of perseverance and building with a focus on innovation.
Prof. Saroj Kumar Pani, Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, IIM Raipur, discussed how the theme of the conclave aligns finely with IIM Raipur’s theme of ‘Building Business Owners.’ He encouraged the students to utilize all the opportunities for cognitive, spiritual, and family growth, along with one’s career growth, to lead a fulfilling life. He emphasized the importance of leaving a legacy that benefits societal development.
In her keynote address, Chief Guest Kanika Garg highlighted the importance of thinking differently and executing innovative ideas that disrupt the status quo in favor of growth. She discussed that success is not merely about achieving personal milestones but also about contributing to society. Explaining the correlation that the more an organization contributes, the more it earns, she also underscored the significance of failures. Ms. Garg rightly shared, ‘What it takes is no more than a moment to change life’s trajectory.’
The conclave progressed by bringing together visionaries, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders from various industries on a single platform for panel discussions that explored new horizons in the ever-transforming business landscape. The interdisciplinary panel presented diverse insights, serving as a melting pot of innovative ideas.
The first-panel discussion themed on the topic ‘Nutana Netratva: Driving Innovation’ commenced, with the dignitaries participating in the debate, namely Amit Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, Lockton; Brijesh Prabhakar, Executive Vice President and Global Delivery Head Insurance, LTIMindtree; Tushar Nemade, Partner, Birdstone Advisors Pvt. Ltd.; Rachit Bansal, Regional CEO, Xanadu; and Mayan Bansal, Head of Digital Marketing. Prof. Dhananjay Bapat of IIM Raipur moderated the panel.
The leaders emphasized the power of incorporating innovative solutions for pressing challenges to break boundaries and bring about favorable change. They advised the students to unlearn traditional thinking and overcome the fear of failure by highlighting the importance of risk-taking in today’s dynamic VUCA business landscape. They stressed treading the path from CSR to complete sustainability and informed the students about Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR). They also urged the
students of IIM Raipur to practice continuous learning and upskilling, which would eventually help achieve business goals and societal development.
The next panel discussion focused on ‘Sustira Neeti: Crafting Tomorrow,’ featured Nikhil Maheshwari, Vice President of Research and Development, Hindware; Inder N. Dua, Partner, Infosys Global Consulting; Dr. Shraddha Danani, Founder and CEO, Aavo Social Platform, and Kanika Garg. Prof. Rahul B Hiremath of IIM Raipur moderated the panel.
The dignitaries highlighted how businesses should craft their strategies by keeping economic sustainability, responsibility towards the earth, and sustainability towards people in mind, which facilitate the creation of wealth along with societal growth. They also focused on environmental goals by exploring the themes of ESG, carbon neutrality, self-sustainability, and Green IT.
The conclave delivered valuable learnings and remarkable takeaways that will help the students of IIM Raipur transform into well-established leaders in the dynamic business world.
The first day of the Yukti Business Conclave 2024 concluded with two panels that engaged in insightful and enriching discussions. The students look forward to the panel discussion along with the Boardroom Simulation event going to be held tomorrow. The event will be modelled as an extension of a dynamic and immersive learning experience to develop through a boardroom setting, corporate decision-making, strategic thinking, and effective leadership skills. Featuring a range of problem scenarios, participants will step in the shoes of CXO(s) and key stakeholders and work in teams to devise effective solutions and their implementation strategy. It will equip attendees with actionable strategies to solve complex business problems, navigate the future of work, and foster sustainable business practices.
