Patna, December 29

The missing Chinese woman, who kept the Bihar police at their toes all day long, was finally detained even as security in and around spiritual leader Dalai Lama has been beefed up who is camping in Bodh Gaya.

Gaya police on Thursday launched hunt for Ms Song Xiaoclan, a suspected woman from China who went traceless. Senior Superintendent of Police of Gaya Harprit Kaur after visiting Mahabodhi temple and Kalchakra Maidan said, “We have received a preliminary intelligence about the woman who has overstayed here.” She said, “Dalai Lama is here, that is why we are more concerned”.

The police released the sketch of the woman her Visa details and sought co-operation from the monasteries of different Buddhist countries located at Gaya,135 km south from here and sought assistance of the Hotels Association.

SSP said the woman had been visiting different parts of the country for the last one year and at Bodh Gaya for the last two months. Her visa has expired.

Security at Kalchakra Maidan, where Dalai Lama will give three days discourse to the followers was tightened up. Dalai Lama addressed first congregation on Thursday morning   and said, “I shall continue to work and serve for humanity till my last breath”

He will be staying at Bodh Gaya for a month. Over 60,000 followers of Buddhism have reached Bodh Gaya from 12 different countries.

The 50-year-old woman from China was detained in the evening and kept at Bodh Gaya police station. M R Nayak, Inspector General of Police, Magadh Zone, while confirming the recovery of woman said she was being questioned at Bodh Gaya police station.
