At least four militants were killed in twin anti-terror operations conducted by the security forces in the southern region of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
According to the Police, three militants including LeT commander were killed in Awantipora of Pulwama district while one militant was gunned down in Semthan village of Bijbihara in Anantnag district.
“LeT cmdr Mukhtar Bhat among the 3 killed terrorists. As per source, he along with FT was going for fidayeen attack on SFs camp. 01 AK-74 rifle, 01 AK-56 rifle & 1 pistol recovered. Awantipora Police & Army averted a major terror incident,” ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said in a tweet.
Mukhtiyar Bhat was involved in several terror crimes including killing of 01 ASI of CRPF and 2 RPF personnel, he said, adding that it was a big success for the security forces.
However, the authorities are in process to ascertain the identities of the other militants.
Meanwhile, in yet another successful operation, the police averted a major tragedy by recovering 10 kg of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) from three hybrid militants in Srinagar city. Later, IEDs were diffused successfully and relevant FIRs under UAPA stands registered.
