Security forces gun down two Maoists on Chhattisgarh-Telangana borders

Two Maoists including a local organisation committee (LOC) commander were killed in an encounter with the security forces on the borders of Telangana and Chhattisgarh on Sunday.

The incident took place under the orbit of Charla police station in Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana. The elite Greyhounds of Telangana and the special police party were on a combing operation when rebels fired at the security personnel near densely forested Puttapadu.

The rebels fled the spot soon after the security personnel gave a befitting reply. During the search operation launched after the encounter, security forces discovered the bodies of two Maoists. While one was identified as LOS Commander Erraiya alias Rajesh while another was Militia Commander Nanda. The bodies were shifted to a hospital in Bhadrachalam district.

Bhadradri Kothagudem police said two weapons including an SLR-01 and a single bore besides huge quantity of explosives and other items were recovered from the spot. The search operation in the area was going on, the officials said.
