Srinagar, January 3
Srinagar Jan 3: Police on Monday shot dead two terrorist including top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant Salim Parray in two separate operations in Srinagar.
In the first encounter that took place in the afternoon, security forces neutralized one militant. “Terrorist Salim Parray of proscribed #terror outfit LeT Salim Parray neutralized. #Operation going on. Further details shall follow,” IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said in a statement.
The shooting took place in Shalimar area of the city. Kumar said that Parray was involved in “slitting throat of 12 civilians during the 2016 agitation”.
A second militant was killed in an encounter between militants and security forces in Shalimar area of Srinagar on Monday evening. The second encounter started just one hour after the first in the same locality.
“SrinagarEncounterUpdate: 01 terrorist killed. Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition recovered. Search going on. Further details shall follow,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
