A purported propaganda by the member of a state-run authority and leaders of ruling Congress-party in connection with a religious event in Kawardha has displeased a disciple of Jagat Guru Shankaracharya, who has castigated a Chhattisgarh minister and demanded his ouster from the cabinet.
Swami Avimukteshwaranand, a disciple of Jagat Guru Shankaracharya, has taken a strong note on an advertisement reportedly issued in the local newspapers of Kawardha district for installing a 108 feet Dharma Dhwaj. It was issued in the name of a member of the state-run renewable energy panel and “all Congressmen” of district Kawardha.
“How the people are cheated here; an example of which came to the notice today morning through the local newspapers,” Swami Avimukteshwaranand charged in a formally convened press conference Friday. While the dharma discussion, prayers were going on, a follower showed him the picture, he said.
The picture carried photographs of Adi Shankaracharya, Jagat Guru Shankaracharya, his (Swami Avimukteshwaranand), Dharma Dhwaj, he said. “The picture also has Bhupesh Baghel Ji and two big leaders; some Kanhaiya Agrawal and Akbar Bhai,” Swami Avimukteshwaranand said, adding that the advertisement was issued to “heartily welcome” the seers coming for the event.
“We would have been happy if this person (pointing to one), who had been named by everyone for the incident (did not specify), had apologized to the people for the incident that took place here,” he added. “After he became the legislator and Minister, the morale of a community has been running high and a section is involved in goondaism under his reported protection,” Swami Avimukteshwaranand said.
What will one understand by seeing this advertisement, he quizzed and responded that it gave the first impression that these people (those named in the advertisement) are organizing the Dharma Dhwaj event.
“I would like to ask these people who many of them were involved in the decision making for the event, purchasing land from administration, deciding the height of the dhwaj or finalizing the minutes of the event. Or, providing any financial assistance for the programme,” Swami Avimukteshwaranand. If there is anyone, he must hold a press conference like him and substantiate his claim, he added.
“And if there is none, then it is highly condemnable that such advertisement has been issued to cheat and misguide the people that they have organized the event,” Swami Avimukteshwaranand said. “I am surprised that how people involved in fraud and cheating become legislators and ministers,” he said, urging that through the media, he would seriously request the Chief Minister to remove such ministers immediately from the post.
The Chhattisgarh government spokesperson could not be contacted for a version on the development.
