A national seminar on Digital Innovations in Mining and Oil & Gas Sectors for Improved Safety & Productivity was organized on Saturday at Convention Centre, Central Coalfields Ltd., Darbhanga House, Ranchi, under the aegis of IIT(ISM) Alumni Association Main Branch and its Ranchi Chapter, both in physical and virtual mode taking due precautions under Covid-19 guidelines.
The prime objective of seminar is to focus on application and development of Digital Technologies for sustainable operations in Mining and Oil & Gas Sectors involving internationally acclaimed experts. Digitilization of process, Big Data Integration, and Operational & Process Optimization for smarter, faster, safer and more data driven mining technologies, are some of the important issues deliberated in this seminar.
The inaugural session was presided by Binay Dayal, President IIT(ISM) Alumni Association Main Branch, Director (Technical), CIL and CMD, CMPDIL and Chairman of Organizing committee of this seminar, who has discussed the above points highlighting the importance of incremental growth trajectory envisaged for Indian Mining, Oil & Gas sector providing real implementable solutions.
In this session, P M Prasad, Patron of the seminar-event and CMD (CCL & BCCL) gave details of recent trends in Global Mining Space to tackle digital disruption like advancing of future of mining, reducing the carbon foot print, fostering reliability amidst volatility, autonomous haulage system, etc.
Professor Rajiv Shekhar, Director, IIT (ISM) and Patron, IIT (ISM) Alumni Association shared the IIT (ISM) involvements in recently taken-up many projects related to digital innovation in mining and earth sciences in hub-spokes model, the other allied subject departments assisting mining, oil & gas sectors for their projected improved performance. He also spoke in details about sea-bed mining on automation and autonomous mode.
Professor Om Prakash, Vice-President, Dr S K Singh, General Secretary, IIT(ISM) Alumni Association and A K Roy convenor of this seminar have also contributed proactively in the inaugural session and afterwards. M. Bhattacharjee, Dean (IRAA), IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
The event could be organized successfully after receiving thankfully funding from some of the notable organizations like SECL, Tech Mahindra (as Platinum sponsors) NCL, MCL, IOCL, Accenture (as Gold sponsors) JSPL, CMPDIL (as Silver sponsors). About 100 delegates participated in persons in the one-day seminar.
