Seva Bharati, a non-governmental organization (NGO) working among the economically weaker sections of the society, today started its second COVID-19 care centre in the capital city of Chhattisgarh.
The 20-bedded centre had been equipped with an oxygen facility besides the basic infrastructure to combat the COVID-19. The centre had been set up at Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Rohinipuram, Raipur with the help of service-minded and dedicated citizens. Earlier, Seva Bharati had opened a 20-bedded centre on April 14, 2021 at Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Devendra Nagar in Raipur.
During the COVID-19 crises and specially during the lockdown period, Seva Bharati had been providing all necessary help to the needy. The organisation works among urban slum dwellers and resettlement colonies by introducing welfare and social service programs, such as free medical assistance, free education, and vocational training.
The massive relief work carried out by Seva Bharati following the 2001 Gujarat earthquake, the 2008 Bihar flood 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami and the Kerala Flood 1st and 2nd came in for considerable appreciation from various quarters. The organisation is also known for its efforts in rehabilitating the victims of terror, especially the children who are rendered orphans by terror attacks.
The volunteers of Seva Bharati today are involved in more than one hundred thousand service projects in remote areas of the country. These projects, serving the economically weaker and socially neglected sections of the society range from medical assistance, crèche, library, hostel, basic education, adult education, vocational and industrial training, upliftment of street children and the lepers. Through these projects Seva Bharti aims at making the underprivileged sections of the society self-reliant in all aspects of their lives.
Dr Rajni Mona was the Chief Guest at the function while Prant Sanghchalak Dr Purnendu Saxena graced the occasion as the special guest. Besides Prant Pracharak Prem Shankar Sidar, noted personalities from the medical fraternity were present at the function. They included Dr Revathi Gupta, Dr Rajat Mona, Dr Vishnu Gupta, Dr Ruchi Dubey, Dr Rakesh Dubey and Dr Harindra Mohan Shukla.
The volunteers of the Maharashtra Mandal and a large number of service-minded citizens were present on the occasion. The centre would be run with the help of the society and doctors of the city’s reputed medical institute VY Hospital. Other social organizations are also providing support for its smooth functioning.
