The BJP made key organisational changes on Thursday, appointing joint general secretary (organisation) V Satish to a newly created post of ‘Organiser’ and Saudan Singh, who also held the same post, to that of vice-president.

Joint organisational secretary Shivprakash will continue in the same post but with change in responsibilities and will look after the BJP’s work in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and West Bengal.

Of all the appointments, Shivprakash is seen as most important. If one reads between the lines, the BJP has started preparation for the state elections though due after three years. The party has to face a humiliating defeat in 2018 after 15 years in power.

Saudan Singh, who was stationed in Raipur and looking after the party’s work in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Jharkhand, will now be posted in Chandigarh and will take care of the party’s work in the union territory, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) pracharak and former kshetra pracharak of west Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, Shivprakash was sent to the BJP in 2014. Known for his organisation skill, electoral strategies and grass root connection with the common party workers, Shivprakash’s working influenced the top BJP leaders.

He was bestowed special responsibilities to look into the organisational matters in West Bengal and assist Kailash Vijayvargiya. He constituted different groups according to classes and established a direct communication to strengthen the BJP’s base in Bengal.

His efforts and strategies yielded the desired results in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as BJP made lotus bloom in Bengal with its outstanding electoral performance.

In the state where BJP workers had been under the attack, Shivprakash refused security cover. For, he felt it would be a big hurdle to connect with the common party worker.
