Snapdeal, India’s leading value-focused e-commerce marketplace, is leveraging its pan-India reach, especially across India’s smaller cities and towns, to promote National Health Authority (NHA’s) “Health ID” program.
As part of this initiative, Snapdeal will utilise its digital presence including website, mobile application, and social media accounts to increase awareness about the scheme and provide information on how users can create their own Health ID .
The Health ID project by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) is part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) that aims to develop the backbone necessary to build an integrated digital health infrastructure in the country. The digital health records will allow users to access & share their medical records, in a paperless manner, all the way from admission to discharge. A unique 14-digit Health ID will be issued to each user on a voluntary basis.
The health ID can be easily created by using an individual’s basic details, mobile number and Aadhaar number. The health records can be further linked and viewed through a mobile application. The “Health ID” will allow users to connect with different healthcare providers across the ABDM ecosystem by enabling a consent-based sharing of personal health records.
The pandemic has highlighted the importance of having all the health related data of an individual in one place which helps in making the healthcare process much efficient and quick, empowering the medical professionals to provide a higher level of care with all the information in hand.
As part of this initiative, Snapdeal is initially running a series of banners to provide information about the benefits of the scheme and providing a link to NHA’s page where they can generate their Health ID. The information will also be shared through Snapdeal’s social media properties in English, Hindi and in other Indian languages.
Speaking on this, Rajnish Wahi, Senior Vice President, Snapdeal said “In an increasingly digital world, easy access to digital health records will be of immense use to citizens, especially as they move beyond primary healthcare to other health services. We believe that this initiative will serve Bharat well and will equip users in smaller cities to connect with digital health solutions from across the country. We are proud to extend our support to NHA’s efforts in this regard.”
Snapdeal receives more than 86 per cent of its orders from outside metro cities. With a large proportion of users living in smaller cities and towns, Snapdeal’s users have access to a range of regional interfaces on the app and can converse with agents in eight Indian languages, in addition to English. This includes Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Telugu, Tamil & Bangla.
As part of its ESG initiatives, Snapdeal works closely with various wings of the government to support public interest initiatives. In February 2021, Snapdeal worked with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to create awareness about FSSAI’s Eat Right India Movement to sensitize consumers about healthy food options and the role of fortified foods in fighting malnutrition. As part of this, Snapdeal’s packets carried stickers to share information about the importance, benefits and identification of fortified food choices.
Snapdeal is India’s largest value e-commerce company with millions of buyers, 500,000 registered sellers, and 200 million products available to be bought by customers across 6000 towns and cities of India.
