Bengaluru, October 6

Rahul Gandhi has been on the job, as a responsible son and a Congress leader too.

On his 3570 km Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi today demonstrated the bond of a son to his mother while leader the party workers in the campaign launched against the BJP. The affection and extracts caught on camera will remain in the memory of Congress workers.

Sonia Gandhi, 75, joined the Bharat Jodo Yatra on the 27th day in Karnataka and walked for around half an hour. She was scheduled to walk for a short distance but she continued to propel the party cadre. Sonia was scheduled to return to Delhi in the afternoon but has decided to stay back.

This is the first time Sonia Gandhi has joined a public event after recovering from COVID-19 earlier this year. She had last participated in a roadshow in Varanasi in August 2016 where she sustained a shoulder injury and later underwent a surgery.

As son, Rahul took full care of her…bending to tie Sonia’s shoelaces and every now and then putting a protective arm around her as they walked.

“We have weathered many a storm and will overcome all challenges. Together we will unite India,” Rahul Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi and posted a photograph of him walking with his mother, his arm around her.

The Congress also posted a picture of mother and son. “Those shielded by love fear nothing! On the road, marching ahead,” it said on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the political temperature soared in Karnataka with Sonia selecting the centre to join the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which is vehemently targeting the BJP. But the development has left the Janata Dal (Secular), the regional party of Karnataka, in the lurch. For, Sonia chose to join the 3,570 km yatra in Mandya, the stronghold of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda.
