Bhopal, January 14
Just within 24 hours of his appointment, film actor Raza Murad has been removed as the brand ambassador of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s cleanliness campaign.
The BMC has yesterday appointed Murad as brand ambassador. Commissioner V S Choudhary handed over the certificate to Murad in a function held at Sonagiri.
The film actor said he was committed for the city of Bhopal and would help in making it cleanest city. He gave an impressive speech on the line; urging people to follow the cleanliness protocols.
On Friday, the Special Assistant of the Madhya Pradesh’s Minister for Urban Development and Housing sent a letter to the BMC commissioner. “The Minister has directed to immediately cancel the order and appoint a person who is acquainted with the rich and glorious culture of Bhopal, and has remarkable contribution in the field of cleanliness campaign,” the communication said.
Raza Murad has been vocal against the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. In August 2013, he took an apparent jibe at the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi saying wearing a skull cap did not corrupt one’s religion. Murad was sharing dais with Shivraj Singh Chouhan to mark Eid celebrations and praised the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister for sporting a skull cap.
In 2014, bollywood yesteryears’ actor Raza Murad hit out at BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi saying he would never support Modi or BJP during his lifetime.
