Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar today reached a remote pocket infected with the Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) riding pillion with District Collector Rituraj Raghuvanshi.
The duo was attending a civic action programme and medical camp organised by the Narayanpur police in Brehbeda village under Orchha block of Abujhmad area, considered to be the stronghold of the Maoists. Setting a precedent of serving the society and reaching to the doorstep of the people, the officers decided to go to the village on a bike.
Sadanand Kumar, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of 2010 batch accompanied Rituraj Raghuvanshi, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of 2014 batch. They travelled 10 kilometers in densely forested pockets where security personnel are also vulnerable to Maoist ambush.
The officers distributed clothes, ration, books and sports materials to the villagers, school children and women under the program. The villagers participated in the programme with enthusiasm and zeal.
In Gaya, along with health check-ups of the local people in the medical camp, medicines were also distributed after medical diagnosis. People who gathered from the Brehbeda and peripherals area were elated to find the Collector and the Superintendent of Police among them.
Rituraj informed the people about a proposed road project to connect Brehbeda and expanding basic facilities like Anganwadi, school, fair price shop, hospital, supply of clean drinking water, etc. The District Collector assured that prompt action would be taken to address the demands raised by the villagers.
After the civic action program, Sadanand Kumar reached Sonepur police station, where he met the officers and jawans and praised their work. Stressing for better connection with the people, he directed the officers to extend all possible help to the local people, especially women and children and treat them with the best humane treatment. It would facilitate winning the heart of common citizens and bring proximity with the police administration.
The other senior officers present on the occasion included Additional Superintendent of Police Akshay Kumar (IPS), Deputy Superintendent of Police Vinay Sahu, Reserve Inspector Deepak Saw, Inspector Upendra Shah, Inspector Sunil Singh (SHO, Kurushnar) and team commanders of DRG.
