Spat on Stage: Tribals thwart ruling Congress MLA’s speech in Chhattisgarh

An event of tribal samaj in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district witnessed dramatic moments with people attempting to stop the speech of ruling Congress’s MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Indrashah Mandavi.

The interruption turned into a tiff on the stage and finally, the protesters snatched away the mike from Mandavi, who enjoys status of state minister.

The Sarva Adavasi Samaj today organized a function in Mohala of Rajnandgaon district. The Silger incident of Bastar became the focus of the event as tribal leaders raised the issue of police firing that killed three people who belonged to the community. The event lodged a strong protest against the Congress government in Chhattisgarh led by Bhupesh Baghel.

The matter took another twist when Mandavi came on the stage to address the gathering. Senior tribal leaders Sohan Potai, Sanjeev Shah and others were also present in the meeting.

As the Congress MLA started his speech, one of the leaders from the community rushed to the stage and interrupted his speech. Soon others also joined him. It led to heated exchanges on the stage.

The Congress MLA had to face humiliation as the protesters who wanted him to speak on Silger, snatched away mike. Sensing the seriousness of the situation, Mandavi walked out and was evacuated safely from the place by the security personnel accompanying him.
