Student credit card in Trinamool Congress manifesto

West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) today released the election manifesto focusing on social security and students’ credit card.  

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday released the Trinamool Congress (TMC) election manifesto for the West Bengal assembly elections. The TMC supremo pledged over five lakh job opportunities will be generated in one year to address the issue of unemployment.

She also promised of starting a widow pension scheme in which Rs 1,000 will be given to beneficiaries from all groups and communities. “Our Duare Sarkar scheme is a grand success. The program will be held four months a year. Free ration will be provided at doorstep,” she added.

Terming the manifesto as being a “development-oriented manifesto,” Banerjee said the “manifesto of the people, for the people, and by the people.”

She also said a minimum income guarantee scheme would be launched that would enable families from economically weak backgrounds to get Rs 500 per month. She also promised of introducing student credit card scheme with a Rs 10 lakh credit limit. “No collateral required… So that our students and youth can be self-sufficient.”
