Ambikapur, December 8
A group of 45 students and 11 faculty members from Government Polytechnic College, Ambikapur, visited the Parsa East Kete Basen (PEKB) mine of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) in Udaipur Block on Saturday as part of an educational tour.
They gained insights into modern mining technologies and observed large-scale afforestation initiatives undertaken by the mine to preserve biodiversity. The students also learned about various social upliftment activities carried out under the community role of industries in the region.
Last week, a special lecture was organized at the Government Polytechnic College on mining techniques, technology, and the transformational role of the mining industry in communities. Technical experts from Adani Natural Resources, Sarguja Cluster, briefed students on advanced technologies, efforts to maintain biodiversity, and activities dedicated to social welfare.
The program was attended by 300 students along with the college principal, R J Pandey and faculty members including HOD Devanshu Prasad, Sanjeev Singh, Romesh Jyoti, Amit Kumar, Prateek Jaiswal, Pankaj Sinha, Manish Sethi, Akash Suman Srivastava, and Sanjay Yadav.
During the mine visit, mining students, including Suraj Patel, appreciated the technologies discussed during the lecture. The students observed the region’s social development initiatives, such as modern schools like Adani Vidya Mandir, skill development centers providing sewing training and production opportunities, and other programs enabling people to progress. The lecture also shed light on responsible mining practices at the PEKB mine, emphasizing technological advancements and sustainable operations.
RRVUNL, through Adani Foundation, conducts various education, health, livelihood promotion, and infrastructure development programs across 14 villages in Udaipur Block, Sarguja district, under the social outreach of its five-star rated Parsa East Kete Basen coal mine. Initiatives include skill development centers in Salhi offering courses like electrician training and sewing workshops. Over 350 trainees have successfully secured employment or self-employment based on their skills. Additionally, over 1.4 million trees have been planted to create a new forest, with afforestation efforts ongoing to preserve biodiversity.
