Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Atmanirbhar Bharat or self-reliant India should not be a mere word but should become a “mantra” of the 1.3 billion people.

Addressing the nation on the occasion of India’s 74th Independence Day from the ramparts of Lal Kila, Modi stressed the importance of making India self-reliant, stating that it was not just a word but should be a “mantra” for all countrymen.

A National Digital Health Mission was also launched on the occasion. The Prime Minister said it would usher in a revolution in India’s health sector. He said every Indian will now get a unique health ID. He also said the country must not only ‘Make in India’ but also ‘Make for the World’.

Without naming Pakistan and China, Modi conveyed a strong message to the neighbours and said, “Those who challenge India’s sovereignty, be it LoC or LAC, have been given a befitting reply in their own language. What India can do, the world has seen it in Ladakh.”

He added that India was committed to hold assembly elections in the Valley once delimitation exercise was completed.

 “Construction of a grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya started 10 days ago. The Ramjanmbhoomi issue that persisted for centuries,” he said, adding that it had been resolved peacefully. The conduct of people of the country has been exemplary and is an inspiration for the future.

The National Digital Health Mission was also announced that would provide a health ID to every person in the country and benefit the poor. Details about the medicine a doctor prescribed, date and related reports would be linked to a person’s health ID.

It is going to be another flagship initiative of the government like Ayushman Bharat.
