Twenty-seven personnel from Chhattisgarh police have been awarded with police gallantry awards on the occasion of Independence Day.
The Ministry of Home today announced the list of awardees in the various categories of service medals, including for gallant action that include 1,082 police personnel from CAPFs and state forces. Among them, 347 have been awarded police medal for gallantry (PMG), 87 President’s police medal for distinguished service and 648 given police medals for meritorious service.
Superintendent of Police Dr Abhishek Pallava has been awarded Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), the highest honour in the category. He is among the 15 police personnel from the state including three posthumously to bag the award for their distinguish service.
Dr Sanjeev Shukla, Inspector General of Police (CID) and Inspector Bishnu Prasad Deshmukh (SIB) are the two who had been awarded President Police Medal (PPM) for Distinguish Service.
The Bastar Inspector General of Police, Sundarraj Pattilingam, who has a long stint fighting the Left-Wing Extremists in the region, has been awarded Police Medal (PM) for Meritorious Service. Raipur Inspector General of Police O P Pal is among the 10 policemen who had been honoured with Police Medal.
