Chhattisgarh’s economy is on a steady path to post-pandemic recovery with the gross state domestic product (GSDP) for financial year 2021-22 (FY22) at constant prices likely to grow by 11.54 per cent against a contraction witnessed in 2020-21.
The advance estimates of GSDP of Chhattisgarh for the year 2021-22 at constant prices (base year 2011-12) is Rs 27849636 lakh, up 11.54 per cent from Rs 24968320 lakh in FY21, according to estimates presented in the economic survey that was tabled in the Chhattisgarh legislative assembly today. The post-pandemic recovery of industries has accelerated growth in the sector.
The biggest contributor to the surge in GSDP has been the industrial sector with a 15.44 per cent growth from Rs 11237860 lakh to Rs 12973041 lakh. The two other key sectors contributing to the Chhattisgarh economy– agriculture and service– have been sluggish. The growth of the agriculture sector is estimated at 3.88 per cent despite Chhattisgarh government’s flagship schemes focused on the rural economy. The sector has posted a nominal growth of 5.58 per cent, according to quick estimates for last fiscal.
The per capita income of Chhattisgarh at current prices has been estimated at Rs 118,401 in 2021-22 as against previous fiscal’s Rs 105,778, registering a growth of 11.93 per cent.
