A gentleman politician who practised civility in Indian politics fought against corruption, Sushil Kumar Modi lost the battle against cancer.
He was 72. BJP lost a giant leader who had distinction of being member of all the four Houses of parliament and state legislature. Two days back, the author had received a WhatsApp message “no progress”. The tributes to the leader who started his career as Bal Sewak at Vijay Niketan Shakha Maidan, general secretary of Patna University students union, was denied his due by the contemporary leaders in his own party.
They proved unfair to Sushil ji,as he was called even by his staff. He was one of the rarest breeds of leaders who used to call back to his partymen, women and workers. His killing smile silenced even his opponents
Chhaya Mishra, Vice President of Advocates Association at Patna High Court, said was deeply saddened with the demise of Sushil Kumar Modi. “We recollect his suggestion to me last year when I was elected vice president of the Advocates Association. He profusely congratulated me and asked to present a comprehensive memorandum on judicial reforms, simplification of court proceedings and papers, Infrastructure and improved working conditions for the members of the Bar,” she said adding that he was concerned about the welfare and security of the advocates.
