Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was actively campaigning to be the Vice President candidate, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi claimed here on Wednesday.
Modi who was Deputy CM with Nitish for 13 years, said, “Nitish had desired to be the Vice President, had sent his emissaries to the BJP leaders seeking their support to be nominated for the post as NDA candidate”.
BJP refused to oblige him as the party had majority on its own in the electoral college of both Houses of parliament.
According to Modi, Nitish had told lies by claiming RCP Singh had joined the Union Cabinet without his approval. Fact is Amit Shah had telephoned him asking for JDU representative for the Union Cabinet. “Nitish told Home Minister RCP Singh should be inducted but take care of Lallan Singh (national president of JDU) who may be angry with ministerial office denied,” Modi said.
Sushil Modi alleged that Nitish will be titular Chief Minister and Tejashwi the de facto Chief Minister, though he is on bail in the IRCTC hotel purchase deal. He had been charge sheeted in the court, the BJP leader said.
Senior BJP leader denied the charge of Nitish that BJP leaders insulted him and claimed the Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was sent twice by Amit Shah to redress grievances of CM. But, CM told BJP leader “all is well”.
Amit Shah had telephoned to Nitish even on Monday night and referred to the anti-BJP comments by Lallan Singh. Chief Minister told Union Home Minister, “Do not take him seriously. In your party, you have Giriraj Singh, in our party, we have Lallan Singh( both loudmouth).”
Modi predicted mid term elections claiming Nitish will break the new alliance well before 2025.
He reminded Tejashwi of his poll commitments of one million government jobs, loan waiver to farmers.
