Raipur, May 4
It took hardly a few seconds for the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel to instantly take a decision and place an officer under suspension for laxity in duty.
Baghel today started a campaign “Bhent-Mulaqat” to meet the common man at his doorstep by conducting surprise visits in the rural pockets. He will cover all the 90 assembly constituencies during the campaign that started from Saamri assembly constituency of Balrampur district in Sarguja division today.
After offering prayer at the Shri Ram-Janaki temple, Baghel visited different places and interacted with all sections of the society. While the children were delighted to have chocolates from the Chief Minister, the common men were elated to have the authority at their approach to lodge the grievance.
The campaign of the Chief Minister has put the bureaucracy on a high alert. Baghel is known for going tough against the bureaucrats and never faltering to take instant decisions. And he proved it on the first day itself.
During his visit in Kusmi nagar panchayat office, the laxity of officers came to the fore when a plaintiff informed the Chief Minister about deletion of name from the ration list. During preliminary inquiry, Baghel noticed the officer’s negligence in expediting the government schemes for the welfare of people.
Taking serious note, the Chief Minister asked to suspend the officer on the spot. With lightning speed, the urban development department in the state secretariat—down 350 km—issued the order to suspend the Chief Municipal Officer S K Dubey.
