Special focus on health check-ups and counseling for pregnant women, nutrition, and safe motherhood in remote areas
Under the state-wide “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar” campaign in Chhattisgarh, an important step has been taken to extend healthcare services to the Naxal-affected Abhujhmad region of Bijapur district. A medical team crossed the Indravati River by boat to reach Konde village, where a health camp was organized.
A total of 132 patients were examined during the camp, including 14 cases of malaria, 26 of cold and cough, and 25 of skin-related ailments. Notably, 10 pregnant women underwent comprehensive health check-ups, received necessary vaccinations, and were given counseling. They were also provided vital information on prenatal care, nutrition, anemia prevention, and safe motherhood.
Demonstrating their commitment, the health workers rowed across the swelling Indravati River themselves to ensure that essential medical services reached such remote and inaccessible areas. Their effort brought much-needed healthcare facilities to the distant village of Konde.
The campaign saw the active participation of Rural Medical Assistant Shivendra Ratre, BETO K. P. Virwansh, health workers Raju Puganti, Arun Page, Atul Kushwaha, and ward boy Sukhram Gota.
This initiative of the state government underlines the principle that “a healthy woman is the foundation of a strong family.” Through this campaign, the government aims to ensure healthcare access for every woman while empowering them with awareness for a better lifestyle.
