Pakistan had been patting its back for establishing the Taliban regime in neighbouring Afghanistan but ignored the challenges ahead it could face from the militant.

In the second incident within a fortnight, flags representing the Afghan Taliban were found hoisted on the rooftop of a seminary located in the heart of the Pakistan capital. Officers of the capital administration and police said four to five white flags of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan were found hoisted on the rooftop of Jamia Hafsa in G-7/3. The seminary has been under the surveillance of the police for long, they added.

The deputy commissioner of Islamabad in a tweet stated: “Lal Masjid affiliated Jamia Hafsa erected an Afghan Taliban Flag on the building. Was removed there and then.”

The authorities were stunned with the Afghan Taliban flags flying high and brought the matter to the notice of senior authorities concerned who directed the administration and police to act. Senior officers of the administration and police reached the seminary and held talks with its administration. Later, the flags were removed.

The officials had asked the seminary’s administration to remain alert so that such activity was not repeated. Two weeks ago, a group of people was spotted with Taliban and Afghanistan’s national flags at Lake View Park.

The Pakistan government had been blindly supporting and aiding the militant rule in Afghan, overlooking the ensuing threat at home. The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leaders also publicly said that the group sought to establish an Islamic caliphate in Pakistan that would require the overthrow of the Pakistani Government.

The people of Pakistan were concerned over the development if not the government and had expressed their views in the social media. “…the foundation of afpaktalibistan has been laid,” one twitter handler said while another added: “Raise awareness to stop this plz… We can’t afford this.”

The TTP seems to have flagged off its mission Pakistan.
