Tata Steel Mining’s Sukinda Chromite Mine, has bagged the prestigious CII SHE Excellence Award at the 17th Safety Symposium and Exposition organized by the leading industry body of the country, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Eastern Region in Kolkata on Tuesday.
The company has been conferred with the Regional Level Winner Award in mining sector for its tireless commitment towards fostering a safe and sustainable work environment.
Thakur Ajay Kumar Vishwambharnath, Assistant General Manager (SHE) along with Subhendu Naskar, Divisional Manager (Plant) and Mohammad Mujaheed, Manager (Mining) from Tata Steel Mining, received the award on behalf of the company at the two-day event. The objective of the symposium was to deliberate upon and understand how the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) professionals can currently drive cultural change, expand cross-functional collaboration, bring forth their value creation to drive a better Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management of the organisations aligning with the overall goals of delivering superior Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performances.
Pankaj Satija, Managing Director, Tata Steel Mining Limited (TSML) said, “We have always been committed towards ensuring the well-being of our workforce and minimising the environmental impact. I thank the jury members for recognising our relentless efforts to uphold the highest standards of safety, health, and environmental practices in and around our operations.”
Adding that the award will inspire the team for further improvement, Satija said that TSML will continue to integrate safety, health, and environmental considerations across its operations.
