Tata Steel rolls out “Ghar Se Ghar Tak” programme

A holistic Safety initiative for well-being and safety of Contractor employees and their families

Tata Steel today rolled out a holistic safety initiative “Ghar Se Ghar Tak”, for its contractor employees and their spouses covering domestic safety, physical and mental health, happiness at home, managing stress, safe driving tips and behavioural safety.

Tata Steel is committed to ‘Zero Harm’ to the people it works with and society at large – which means a personal commitment to the highest standards of health and safety excellence. Contractor’s employees play vital role in plant operation and maintenance.

Sanjiv Paul, Vice President Safety, Health and Sustainability was the Chief Guest, while Probal Ghosh, Vice President Shared services graced the event as the Guest of Honour. Neeraj Kumar Sinha, Chief Safety along with various Vendor Partners, their employees with spouses, were also present during the inaugural event of the ;programme at Safety Excellence Centre, Jamshedpur.

Chief Safety, Neeraj Kumar Sinha, explained its objectives and set the context. He explained the necessity of behavioural change – both at home and workplace, for achieving Tata Steel’s stated goal of “Zero Harm”.

Vice President, Safety Health and Sustainability, Sanjiv Paul explained about the Safety Excellence Journey of Tata steel over the last 15 years. He highlighted the importance the company’s efforts in assuring that all workers return home happily and safely from their workplaces. Interacting with the participants, he expressed his happiness about safety conscious homemakers behind every safe worker and appreciated their role. He expressed his faith in the programme helping to achieve the goal of “Zero Harm”.

Vice President, Shared Services, Probal Ghosh in his address, stressed on the efforts continually made by various Apex committees in improving workplace condition and safety. He praised the efforts of vendor partners in our quest for “Injury free – Incident free” workplace. He emphasised the importance of a stress-free atmosphere in home, which is the basis of a healthy-safe worker at workplace.

During the interactive program, the participants shared very positive impressions about this initiative. Besides the Domestic safety training, two safety videos were screened- showcasing the importance of domestic safety and managing stress.
