Tata Steel commissions second solar power project inside Jamshedpur works

A rooftop solar power project of 1.73 MWp capacity has been installed at Cold Rolling Mill at Tata Steel Jamshedpur Works.

The facility was inaugurated by Avneesh Gupta, Vice President Total Quality Management & Engineering & Projects, Tata Steel on October 18. This is the second such installation of solar power project inside Jamshedpur Works thereby reiterating Company’s commitment towards sustainability. The first rooftop solar project of 2.2 MWp was commissioned last month at Central Warehouse in Tata Steel.

The project has been commissioned by Tata Power under the larger agreement with Tata Steel for installation of total 41 MW at various location with combination of roof top, floating and ground mounted.

Several definitive steps across the value chain have been undertaken to reinforce its sustainability credentials. In recent past, power generation from solar and non-conventional energy sources have gained momentum across its operating locations. Tata Steel continues on its pursuit of clean energy solutions and expanding its renewable energy footprint.
