Tata Steel’s West Bokaro Division organises special workshop on workplace safety

In its effort to recognise the efforts of all its employees, Tata Steel’s West Bokaro Division celebrated International Labour Day at Union Office, West Bokaro.

S K Pedada, Director Mines Safety (Mechanical), South Eastern Zone, Ranchi, Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) graced the occasion as Chief Guest along with Rajesh Patel, Chief (QAB), West Bokaro Division, Tata Steel.

 Speaking on the occasion, S K Pedada, Director Mines Safety (Mechanical), DGMS (South Eastern Zone) said,“DGMS has always been at the forefront when it comes to labour welfare and has been guiding force behind workplace safety at mines. On International Labour Day, I salute the contributions of every employee of West Bokaro Division and pay my heartfelt tribute to the employees who lost their lives during COVID-19.”

On the occasion, a special workshop on workplace safety was organised by Tata Steel’s Safety Department under the aegis of Directorate General of Mines Safety – South Eastern Zone (DGMS), Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. A special workshop on usage of mobile phones at workplace/shopfloor, awareness on usage of Light Motor Vehicles (LMV) road at mines and focussed supervision of peripheral areas was organised emphasising the importance of rational behavioural etiquettes at workplace. On the occasion the history and importance of Labour Day was discussed during the workshop.

P K Mishra, Vice President, Rashtirya Colliery Mazdoor Union (RCMU), West Bokaro gave the vote of thanks on the occasion during the concluding ceremony.
