The three-day Chakradhar Samaroh was concluded on Friday with mesmerising performances by local artists from Chhattisgarh and the city.

The 3-day event witnessed the record-breaking participation of over a thousand artists. The participants included both budding talents and seasoned art luminaries with national and international acclaim. A group of 60 artists hailing from the prestigious Indira Kala Sangeet (IKS) Vishwavidyalaya in Khairagarh has showcased a mesmerising performance. Their performance spanned various themes, showcasing the students’ incredible prowess with musical instruments and captivating dance performances. They performed on the melodious tunes of Chhattisgarh’s state anthem, “Arpa Pairi”. They displayed a splendid glimpse of the rich cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh to the audience.

The highlight of the event was the enchanting presentation of ‘Lok Mein Ram,’ a special performance that portrayed the various forms in which Lord Shri Ram is revered in Chhattisgarh’s folk songs and dances. Students and artists from the Folk Music and Art Department of IKS Vishwavidyalaya brilliantly depicted these facets of worship through ‘Lok Mein Ram’. Under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Padmashree Mrs. Mamta Chandrakar, the collective efforts of talents such as Monica Sahu, Bharti Janghel, Kavita Kumbhakar, Jharna Deohari, Nisha Thakur, Lakshmi Sinha, Pramod Sahu, Raju Yadav, Chandra Prakash Sahu, Taran Nishad, Rinku Verma, and Jeenu Ram Verma showcased a flawless performance. Another remarkable performance, ‘Sangat Ka Aadmi,’ featured Dr. Bihari Taram on the flute, Dr. Nathu Tode on harmonium, Janeshwar Tandia on tabla, Ashish Kumar Yadav on dholak, Laxmikant Sahu on the organ, Ved Prakash Raote on mandar, and Nohar Sahu on the banjo. This composition was skillfully directed by Dr. Yogendra Choubey, adding to the cultural richness of the event.

Ms. Tabu Parbeen’s Group of Raigarh Gharana delivered a spectacular Kathak dance performance during which little young girls took the spotlight, captivating the audience. Aashna Delhiwar’s Kathak performance left spectators amazed. Mr. Ibrar Ahmed and Mr.Sanjay Chauhan from Raigarh had everyone dancing with their Chhattisgarhi bhajan and folk singing. Ms. Suhani Swarnakar from Sarangarh showcased Kathak, while Dr. Gaurav Kumar Pathak from Bilaspur mesmerised the audience with classical singing. Mr.Yuvraj Singh Azad and his group from Raigarh presented a brilliant IPTA drama. Anvika Vishwakarma’s tabla beats and music accompanied a captivating presentation on Shivtandav and Krishna Leela. The Bharat Natyam performance by Mr. Anil Tandi, a student of Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya in Khairagarh, and the group from Bhilai amazed the audience. Along with his disciples, he performed Bharatnatyam dances in Saraswati Shloka, Jati-Swaram, and Devi Keertanam.

Mr. Manoj Tiwari of Jas Jagran Lok Sanskriti Raigarh thrilled the audience with his mesmerising performance of “Shri Ram Ji Ki Sena, Ram Ji Ki Sena Chali..Har Har Mahadev.” The Kathak dance of Ms. Sharvi Singh Parihar enthralled the audience. A remarkable highlight was the astonishing performance by 10-year-old Ms. Pearl Motwani, who delivered a mesmerising rendition of “Bada Khayal,” “Chhota Khayal” in Raga Jaijaivanti, “Jaap Rasna,” “Hari Naam Sumarle,” and “Ab Lau Na Aaye More Saawariya” in Tarana, accompanied by Guru Mr. Ugrasen Patel on the tabla. Ms. Dharitri Singh Chauhan of Pusaur also graced the stage with her splendid Kathak dance, accompanied by Guru Preeti Rudra Vaishnav on the pandat, Devesh Kanwar on tabla, and Lala Ram Lunia on harmonium. Mr. Shekhar Giri and his group delivered a dynamic Panthi dance performance, showcasing their talent that has earned them numerous accolades, including the Vivekananda Award, the International Courageous 2020 Award, and the Valmiki Award from the Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Academy. Their spectacular dance to “Tore Bharosa Ma Naiya Lag Rave Beach Bhanwar Ma” mesmerised the audience.

Mr. Lalit Yadav delivered a soul-stirring performance of Sugam Sangeet Bhajan, accompanied by vocalists Mr. Lalit Yadav from Raigarh, Mr. Kanhaiya Patel, and harmonium maestro Mr. Narayan Chandra from Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Mr. Ramesh Sahu on organ, and Mr. Bhuneshwar Marai on violin. Dr. Deepika Sarkar and her group, renowned for her Bharat Natyam, showcased her Ghunghru prowess on national and international stages, commencing her presentation with a mesmerising Ganesh Vandana. Mr. Hare Krishna Tiwari from Sarangarh enchanted the audience with his melodious flute playing, accompanied by Mr. Ajit Haripriya of Sarangarh on Tabla and Mr. Rishi Kesh Pradhan on Swar Mandal. Under the expert guidance of Guru Mrs. Toshi Gupta, Ms. Sharvi Kesharwani graced the stage with her Kathak performance set to the melodious Raag Hamsadhwani Tarana, leaving the audience spellbound.

Mr. Vijay Sharma delivered a captivating performance that seamlessly combined Jasgan and folk singing, enchanting the audience with soul-stirring renditions of songs like “Chandra Saini Maiya Tore Jas Gao,” “Kori Kori Nariyal Chadhe,” “O Dai Mor Lali Lali Chunari Odhe,” and “Chait Ke Mahina Dai Abe Manjhani,” evoking a profound sense of devotion among the audience. Ms. Geetika Vaishnav performed on “Mahishasura Mardini,” accompanied by Mr. Santosh Sharma and Mr. Shaurya Acharya on vocals, and Mr. Omprakash Mahant and Balmukund Vaishnav providing musical accompaniment. Mr. Ramsagar Sah added depth to the performance with his performance on the pad.

Concluding the evening, Ms. Ananta Pandey mesmerised the audience with her captivating Kathak dance performance on the melodious tunes of “Jai Dev Jai Dev Ganpati” and “Namo Namo Namastute.” Mr. Vijay Singh and his team showcased a mesmerising performance of Chhattisgarhi folk songs. Their performance included vibrant renditions of “Hareli Tihar,” “Karma Kuhki Gabo Mandar Ke Taal Ma,” and “Gaura-Gauri, Gohar Gohar, Gaura Gauri.” They also delighted the crowd with lively singing and dancing, featuring Durga Jas and Holi Phag songs.
