CBI on Tuesday arrested five accused, including the principal commissioner of Income Tax in a bribery case.
According to CBI spokesman, four private persons have been arrested from Dhanbad and PCIT was arrested from Patna.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested five accused including Principal Commissioner of Income Tax (Patna and Dhanbad) during exchange of illegal gratification of Rs 10 lakh from different assesses of Income Tax.
On the basis of the information disclosing commission of a cognizable offence, CBI registered a case on allegations that accused was demanding and accepting illegal gratification from different assesses of Income Tax, under his jurisdiction to cause undue benefit to them by abuse of his official position.
It was also alleged that there were several conduits who were working on behalf of the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax (Patna and Dhanbad), Santosh Kumar.
Searches are being conducted at around 21 locations in Patna, Dhanbad and Noida (U.P.) which led to recovery of incriminating documents and articles.
All accused persons will be produced at the Court of the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Patna tomorrow .
Those arrested include a Dhanbad coal merchant, transport operator, a doctor and Secretary of the posh Dhanbad Club.
