A 15-year-old tribal girl was allegedly gang-raped by five persons in Dediapada Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh.
The incident took place in the Pandrapath area under the Bagicha police station on February 17 night. According to reports, the girl had come to attend a marriage function when five youths abducted her to take her to the adjoining forests where they committed the heinous crime.
The victim escaped from their custody and ran berserk in the forest. Due to darkness, she fell in a ditch. The brutality of the youths did not end and they brutally bashed her up after pulling out of the ditch.
The girl sustained serious injuries and had been admitted to a government hospital.
The police have registered an offence under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and POCSO act. Two youths have been arrested while three are still absconding.
