The 76th Republic Day celebrations in Bastar division of Chhattisgarh was special this year that indeed created history.
The villages, which were once forced to live under the fear and terror of Maoists, are now walking on a new path of peace and development. Due to the tremendous success of the Maoists eradication campaign run by the Chhattisgarh government, a new atmosphere of security and trust was created in the villages. Subsequently, people of 26 villages located in the interior parts of once Maoists-infested areas for the first time unfurled the National Flag and celebrated Republic Day with full enthusiasm.
The anti-Maoists campaign run by the Chhattisgarh government under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has written a new story of security and development in the Bastar division. Under this campaign, peace has been restored by setting up security centers in the interior and remote areas of Bastar. The influence of left-wing rebels was once so deep in these villages that people were forced to live a normal life in the shadow of fear, let alone national festivals. Now, with the efforts of Nakshatra Abhiyan, not only peace has been established there, but a new hope has also been raised among the local people.
It is worth noting that in the last one year, a total of 26 new security camps have been established in the affected areas of Bastar division of Chhattisgarh state. The camps have not only strengthened the law and order, but have also been a centre of expediting the development activities. In these villages of Bijapur, Sukma, Narayanpur and Kanker districts, the villagers hoisted the national flag on Republic Day for the first time and participated in this festival with full enthusiasm.
On the occasion of Republic Day, the police and security forces hoisted the national flag along with the local villagers at the camps. During this, the importance of Republic Day was discussed and sweets were distributed to the people, chocolates to the children besides other materials.
It is noteworthy that security camps have been established in the last one year at Gundam, Futkel, Chutwahi, Kondapalli, Zidpalli, Watewagu, Karregatta, Pidia in Bijapur district, Kasturmeta, Maspur, Irkbhatti, Mohandi, Horadi, Garpa, Kachchapal, Kodliyar in Narayanpur district, Tekalgudem, Puvarti, Lakhapal, Pulanpad, Tumalpad, Raigudem, Golkunda, Gomguda, Mentaguda in Sukma district and Panidobir security camps in Kanker district.
Inspector General of Police Bastar Range Sundarraj P said that due to the collective efforts of the Chhattisgarh government and security forces, peace and democracy had been restored in Bastar division. Security camps established under the anti-Maoists campaign had played a big role in bringing the affected areas on the path of peace and development.
Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma hoisted the flag at the main Republic Day function organized at Lalbag Parade Ground in Jagdalpur. While extending his best wishes to the people of the state, he lauded the success of the drive and the efforts being made for security and development in Bastar division.
