A team of three employees from SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Coke Ovens and Coal Chemicals department bagged the first prize in Hazard Analysis Competition organised as part of World Steel Safety Day celebrations by SAIL Safety Organisation (SSO).
The employees who brought laurels for the BSP included S Mazumdar, Rajesh Singh and Hemant Sahu. They are working in SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Coke Ovens and Coal Chemicals Department. While Shiladitya Mazumdar is Chargeman, Rajesh Singh is Technician Mechanical Maintenance and Hemant Sahu is Technician Electrical Maintenance in CO and CCD.
The three were selected for Prime Minister’s Shram Shree Puraskar for Year 2017 as part of a group of six employees from Coke Ovens.
World Steel Safety Day was celebrated on Thursday in a befitting manner by SAIL Safety Organisation (SSO). The day is celebrated globally every year on 28th April under the aegis of World Steel Association. As a part of the celebration, a Hazard Analysis Competition – HazAn.Com was organised for the employees of plants & units of SAIL, in which case studies on mitigating the hazards at the workplace were invited from the employees.
Out of a total 39 entries received, 13 entries from the teams of employees were shortlisted, who made detailed presentations before a panel of judges in SSO, Ranchi.
Second position was bagged by a team from Salem Steel Plant comprising P Somasundaram and S Matheswaran, while team of J D Mohapatra, A K Samantara and S K Das from Rourkela Steel Plant stood at third position.
The winning teams were awarded by Nirvik Banerjee, Executive Director (RDCIS) in presence of S Vashishta, CGM (Safety), SSO and Atanu Mukherjee, GM I/c (Academic), MTI. The event was coordinated by Ashok Kumar Choudhary, Manager (SSO) with able support from SSO collective.
Senior offices of SAIL-BSP management have congratulated the trio from Coke Ovens for the award-winning presentation on the important topic of Hazard Analysis in safety.
