A truck carrying rice allotted under the public distribution system (PDS) quota swept away in flash flood in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district today morning.
Accidently, the loaded vehicle broke down on Badanala (canal) near Mettupalli under Bhopalpatnam sub division of Bijapur district. Before it could be repaired, water level in the nullah rose.
Sunday morning, the flash flood inundated the nullah and swept away the truck carrying rice allotted for distribution in the interior areas of the district. The driver and the cleaner had deserted the vehicle as the water level started increasing.
The senior administrative and police officials have reached the spot to assess the loss.
