Train services have been severely affected on the Hatia-Rourkela section when two goods trains chugging on same track collided in Jharkhand Saturday night.
The accident happened between Pakra and Kurkura railway stations, railway officials they said. There were no casualties as drivers and guards of both the trains escaped unhurt, they added.
Following the impact of the collision, a few wagon fell on the tracks that were badly damaged. The railways have started clearing the tracks and restore train traffic on the section.
The railways have cancelled two trains—Jharsuguda-Hatia Passenger and Rourkela-Hatia Passenger—following the accident.
The Tapaswini Express that runs from Bhubaneswar to Hatia daily and Alleppey-Bokaro Express that runs via Bhubaneswar have been diverted, officials said.
The railway officials denied to comment how two trains came on the same track. They said an investigation has been ordered by the railways that will reveal the cause of accident.
