Even as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine entered into the fourth day on Sunday, both the countries have reportedly agreed on unconditional parley to resolve the crises.

The office of Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian and Russian officials would meet for talks at a venue on the Belarusian border with Ukraine. The talks, the first since Russia unleashed a full-scale invasion of Ukraine last week, would be held without preconditions and are the result of a phone call between Zelenskyy and the Belarusian president, Zelenskyy said.

“We agreed that the Ukrainian delegation would meet with the Russian delegation without preconditions on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, near the Pripyat River,” he said in a statement.

Ukraine denied that it was refusing to negotiate a ceasefire with Russia but said it was not ready to accept ultimatums or unacceptable conditions. Zelenskyy also refused to attend talks in neighbouring Belarus, which has allowed Russian troops passage to attack Ukraine. He listed as options Warsaw, Bratislava, Istanbul, Budapest or Baku.

On the other hand, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his defence chiefs to put the country’s nuclear “deterrence forces” on high alert Sunday and accused the West of taking “unfriendly” steps against his country. International tensions are already soaring over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and Putin’s order will cause further alarm.

Meanwhile, Ukraine claimed that Russia has suffered major casualties during the operation. The Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Hanna Maliar posted on Facebook that the total estimated losses of the enemy include 4,300 Russian occupiers killed in Ukraine.

Approximately 100,000 people have turned out in Berlin to protest Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and show solidarity with the Ukrainian people
