UltraTech Cement Limited, the cement flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, has announced the commissioning of cement capacity of 1.2 million tonne per annum (MTPA) in October, 2021.
This is the first phase of the 19.5 MTPA capacity expansion announced by the company in December, 2020. The two locations where the capacity of 0.6 MTPA has been augmented in each included Patliputra Cement Works Bihar and Dankuni Cement Works in West Bengal. With the expansion, the capacity of both the units has now enhanced to 2.5 MTPA and 2.2 MTPA respectively.
The additional capacity will help the Company to service the fast-growing cement demand in the Eastern markets and will also help in increasing its blended cement ratio. The Company’s total cement manufacturing capacity in India now stands increased to 112.55 MTPA.
