UltraTech commences mining from MP’s Bicharpur Coal Block

UltraTech cement limited has commenced mining of coal from its Bicharpur Coal mines situated in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh.

The company has won the Bicharpur coal block in Madhya Pradesh for a bid price of Rs 3,003 a tonne in 2018. The block has extractable reserves of 29.12 million tonne and is the third win for the Aditya Birla Group after its group company won two blocks during the process.

“The coal extracted from the mines will be used for the company’s internal consumption and will to some extent reduce its dependence on coal purchases,” the company said in a regulatory filing today.

It is the third largest cement producer in the world, excluding China. UltraTech has a consolidated capacityof 117.95 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) of grey cement. UltraTech has 22 integrated manufacturing units, 27 grinding units, one Clinkerisation unit and 7 Bulk Packaging Terminals.
