Raipur, February 1

Reacting to the Union Budget 2026–27, Chief Minister described it as a historic document that charts the course for India’s golden and developed future.

He noted that this was the first budget prepared at Kartavya Bhavan, placing national development and the welfare of every citizen at its core. The budget, he said, is guided by three key commitments—economic growth and employment generation, fulfilment of public aspirations, and the spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.’

Chief Minister said under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the budget presented by Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman will prove to be a milestone for the upliftment of the poor, farmers, youth, women, middle class, and labour class. He added that states such as Chhattisgarh would directly benefit from several of the measures announced.

Strengthening Agriculture and Rural Economy

Shri Sai said the budget introduces several important initiatives aimed at increasing farmers’ incomes and strengthening the rural economy. Efforts to enhance agricultural productivity through artificial intelligence and modern technology, along with focused promotion of animal husbandry and the dairy sector, will provide new momentum to rural livelihoods. Under the Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj initiative, encouragement to local industries and handicrafts will generate fresh employment opportunities in villages.

New Employment Opportunities for Youth

Highlighting the emphasis on job creation, Chief Minister said the budget gives special attention to generating employment for youth. Sectors such as startups, MSMEs, manufacturing, and tourism will open up new avenues. Strengthening tourism, he said, will boost local economies and enable youth to find employment closer to home. He also noted that foreign travel and overseas education would become more affordable than before.

Historic Push for the Healthcare Sector

Calling the health-related provisions historic, Shri Sai said the allocation of ₹10,000 crore for the biopharma sector would help reduce the cost of medicines for cancer, diabetes, and other serious diseases. The budget also provides for upgrading district hospitals, establishing emergency and trauma centres in every district, strengthening mental health services, promoting Ayurveda, and setting up five regional medical tourism hubs in collaboration with states. These initiatives, he said, would significantly improve healthcare services across the country while also creating new employment opportunities, including in Chhattisgarh.

New Direction for Women’s Empowerment

Chief Minister said the expansion of Lakhpati Didi scheme will connect women with credit-linked self-employment, entrepreneurship, and local markets. In addition, the proposal to construct hostels for girls in every district will strengthen access to higher education for young women.

Boost to Industry, Education and Sports

To strengthen the economy, the budget announces seven high-speed rail corridors, 20 new waterways, large textile parks, and mineral corridors in four states. An investment of ₹40,000 crore under the Semiconductor Mission will accelerate industrial growth and employment generation. Reforms in education and initiatives under the Khelo India Mission will provide improved opportunities for children and youth.

Tax Reforms and Public Relief

Shri Sai said the income tax system has been simplified, making compliance easier for small taxpayers. He added that prices of several everyday items—including medicines, clothing, footwear, mobile phones, EV batteries, solar equipment, and biogas-CNG—will reduce, providing direct relief to the general public.

Chief Minister added that the Union Budget 2026–27 strengthens the ethos of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas and Sabka Vishwas. It ensures inclusive development across the country, including Chhattisgarh, and conveyed heartfelt thanks on behalf of the people of the state to the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister for what he described as a historic, growth-oriented, and people-centric budget.
