Bhopal, April 24
The Union Cabinet Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change; and Labour and Employment, Bhupender Yadav trekked 3.5 km in the Achanakmar Amarkantak Biosphere Reserve to get the ground realities.
The Reserve happens to be the catchment area of the Narmada river. The Minister was accompanied by senior forest officials of Madhya Pradesh.
“The Biosphere is blessed with some unique and rare medical plants such as Gul Bakawali and Brahmi. Our forest officials and frontline forest staff are working day and night to preserve and protect this rich ecosystem. The trek ended with the planting a sapling of Sal,” the Minister tweeted after trekking.
