Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a Chaupal (community gathering) under a Mahua tree in Gundam village of Maoist-infested Bijapur district.
Shah openly discussed with the villagers in a friendly manner. He said that on the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they have set a target to end Maoist terror by March 31, 2026, as a result of which today Naxalism has been confined to a small area.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were present on this occasion.
The Union Home Minister said that security camps have been set up at various places in Bastar to free the villagers from the fear of Maoist terror. An atmosphere of peace and tranquillity is being established in the Bastar region. He appealed to the villagers to join the mainstream of development by joining as many schemes as possible. Shah said that children must be sent to school. Education will solve various problems.
While addressing the villagers, he said that there was also a hospital facility in the camp set up near Gundam where villagers should go without hesitation for free treatment and should not rely on witchcraft. He informed the villagers about various public welfare schemes including free 35 kg rice, Mahtari Vandan Yojana.
The Union Minister visited the primary school located in the village and took information about studies from the children and motivated the children to come to school regularly. At the same time, he also informed the women about the benefits of education.
Shah directed the Collector to make all the necessary documents including Aadhar card, ration card, bank passbook, Ayushman card by organizing a public facility camp for the villagers. He said that a bank passbook is mandatory to avail the benefits of all the schemes of the government, so a bank passbook was a must. He said that within a year all the basic facilities like roads, electricity, school, hospital, and drinking water will be provided in the village.
The Union Home Minister later reached among the security forces personnel deployed in the remote and Maoist-affected area of Gundam in Bijapur today as part of his mission to curb Naxal activities. He interacted with the security forces personnel including CRPF, CoBRA, DRG and encouraged them at the camp of CRPF’s 153rd Corps Battalion.
Shah directly inquired about the ground situation of the Naxal operation from the soldiers deployed on the front. He also had lunch with the soldiers.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma and Director General of Police Ashok Juneja were also present on this occasion.
