Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish sent to 14-day judicial custody

The Special Task Force (STF) constituted to probe the Lakhimpur Kheri incident late Saturday night arrested Ashish Mishra, son of Union minister Ajay Mishra Teni.

He was later produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate passed mid night. The police pleaded for custody by the Minister’s son was sent to 14-day judiciary custody and sent to jail. The court would hear the police plea on October 11.

According to STF officials, Ashish was quizzed for over 12 hours. He allegedly failed to respond to pointed questions about the sequence of events on October 3, when a group of farmers were mowed down by an SUV belonging to him that led to his arrest.

In Eight persons including four farmers and BJP workers were killed in the incident. Mishra was arrested at 10.50 pm on Saturday and sent to the Lakhimpur jail around 1 am on Sunday after 12 hours of questioning.

According to officials, Ashish Mishra was not able to explain his location between 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm on October 3 when the incident took place.

Though the Minister’s son admitted the SUV that ran over farmers belongs to him, but he maintained that he was not in it. His team said he had produced around 150 images of the wrestling match where he was present on the day of the incident.
