Two girls from Bihar have bagged first and second position in the civil services examinations, 2022 conducted by the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC).
The results of the prestigious exam were declared on Tuesday. Ms Ishita Kishore, who secured first position, is the granddaughter of Banbir Prasad, a former officer in the transport department in Bihar government. He stays in Gardanibagh area of the state capital.
Daughter of an IAF officer, 26-year-old Ishita cleared the exam in her third attempt. She qualified the examination with political science and international relations as her optional subjects. A graduate in Economics (Hons.) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi, she is a national-level football player and has participated in the Subroto Cup football tournament in 2012.
Ranbir Nandan Prasad was president of the Durga Puja Samiti at Thakurbari at Gardanibagh. He recalled that two former Chief Secretaries of Bihar, K K Srivastva and B P Verma were also from Gardanibagh area. They too were children of state government employees.
Ms Garima Lohiya, daughter of a businessman of Buxar, a district town in western Bihar is second topper. A graduate in Commerce from Kirorimal College, University of Delhi, secured the second rank with Commerce and Accountancy as her optional subject.
Rahul Srivastva, son of an officer in Canara Bank is placed at the tenth position. He is from the state capital.
Three examinees Ms Akansha Jha, Sandip Kumar and Manish Kumar who made it to the civil services are from the same district of Madhubani.
In 2019, Pradip Kumar from Muzaffarpur and in 2020, Shubham Kumar from Purnia were the all India toppers.
