The US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti called on Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday and asserted that America would also become a partner in the development journey of the state.
During the meeting with the Chief Minister, Garcetti had an in-depth discussion on promoting investment in the state, cultural aspects and economic possibilities. Sai informed about the development work being taken up in Chhattisgarh and the favorable environment created for investors in the new industrial policy. He said that the state was open to global investors and large-scale development had been taking place here in every field. “The cooperation of friendly nations like America is a matter of pride for us,” Sai added.
Garcetti said that Chhattisgarh is a surplus state in the field of power generation and there are immense possibilities of investment in sectors like energy, defense, logistics, IT and semiconductors here. The Ambassador said they would work together to promote investment of various American companies in Chhattisgarh to make it an important destination for global investors.
The US Ambassador said it was his dream to come to Chhattisgarh that was realised. On the request of the Chief Minister, Garcetti said that he would definitely visit Bastar with his family to explore the enchanting nature’s beauty.
The Chief Minister said that the tribal-dominated Bastar region of the state had been Naxal-affected, which was a big challenge till now. “Our government is running several schemes towards establishing peace in these areas and improving the living standards of the tribals. Through the Niyyad Nella Nar scheme, the work of providing basic facilities in these remote areas is being done rapidly,” Sai said, adding that with the opening of new camps of security forces, the insurgency had been confined to a small pocket.
Garcetti suggested that Olympic winning athletes should also be invited to the Bastar Olympics so that the world knows Bastar and the region could also connect with the world in that way. The US Ambassador also invited the Chief Minister to participate in the Olympic Games to be held in America in 2028.
A Chhattisgarh government spokesperson said during the meeting, the Chief Minister and the US Ambassador talked on various issues. Garcetti took a keen interest to know about the Chief Minister’s vision regarding the development of Chhattisgarh and the challenges faced during the period. The Chief Minister told him that Chhattisgarh is a leading state with abundant reserves of mineral wealth. Many rare earth metals are also found in Chhattisgarh. He also informed him about the investment proposals received and also different schemes launched by the state government for the people of the state especially the women.
