Vaccination for children between 15 and 18 years from January 3

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced vaccination for children in the age of 15 to 18 years from January 3, 2022.

In his address to the Nation Saturday night, Modi also announced precaution dose of COVID vaccine for frontline and health care workers from January 10.

Those above 60 years of age and with comorbidities can also avail of ‘precaution dose’ of COVID vaccine on doctor’s advise, the Prime Minister said, cautioning people against the spread of Omicron variant of Covid-19.

He urges people to follow Covid protocol like washing hands often and wearing masks. The Prime Minister asked people not to panic.

India has administered 141 crore doses of Covid vaccine, he said. The Prime Minister said India had 18 lakh isolation beds, 5 lakh oxygen supported beds, 1.40 lakh ICU beds, 90,000 pediatric ICU and non-ICU beds.

“We have more than 3,000 working PSA oxygen plants, 4 lakh oxygen cylinders have been distributed throughout the nation,” Modi said.
