One of the earlier established cities, Bikaner would score over others to become country’s first city to launch door-to-door vaccination.
The campaign would start on Monday and cover adults aged 45 and up. The district administration has set up a helpline with a WhatsApp number where people could register for the vaccines by providing their names and addresses. The vaccine van would be sent to the locality on getting requisition from a minimum 10 persons.
Two ambulances and three mobile teams had been set up to administer vaccine at the doorstep. The medical staff would stay in the area after administering the vaccine for post complications while the van would leave for the next destination.
Located about 340 kms from Jaipur, Bikaner has 16 urban primary health centres that would be updated about the persons receiving the vaccines so that it could monitor any side effects.
The city has a population of over 7 lakh as per the 2011 Census and about 60-65 per cent of its population has been vaccinated till now.
