Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai was today elected unopposed as the President of Chhattisgarh Olympic Association.
In the special general meeting of Chhattisgarh Olympic Association held at New Circuit House in the capital Raipur, Returning Officer Ashok Kumar Agarwal announced his unopposed election as the President. Similarly, a total of 10 people including Chhattisgarh Minister Kedar Kashyap, Members of Parliament Brijmohan Agarwal and Vijay Baghel were elected unopposed as Vice Presidents of the Association.
The Returning Officer handed over the election certificate to the Chief Minister.
Sai congratulated all the newly elected office bearers of Chhattisgarh Olympic Association and said: “We all will work with full team spirit to take sports forward in Chhattisgarh.” He said that there was no dearth of sports talent in Chhattisgarh.
“Our government is continuously taking decisions in the interest of infrastructure development and players along with promoting sports in the state. Our goal should be that the players of the state play in the Olympics and win medals,” Sai said. All the officials of the association should be given the responsibility of one district each and work should be done towards promoting the sports that are popular in that region, he added.
All the newly elected officials had been associated with sports and its administrative system in some way or the other, Sai said, adding that in such a situation, the players of the state will get the benefit of their long experience.
The MP and newly elected Vice President of Chhattisgarh Olympic Association, Brijmohan Agarwal said that there was no dearth of talented players in the state, they need to provide them better infrastructure, facilities and training. He said that the government led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai is continuously working to promote sports. He added that the Chief Minister, taking a big initiative, agreed to organize the National Jamboree 2025 of Scout Guide in the capital Raipur.
“The players are our ambassadors, who give recognition to the state at the national and international level. Chhattisgarh Olympic Association should also make efforts to take them forward,” Agrawal added.
Observer Digvijay Singh was also present on this occasion. Himanshu Dwivedi, Sanjay Pillai, Gajraj Pagaria, Sharad Shukla, Ramesh Kumar Srivastava and Sunil Kumar Agarwal were elected as Vice Presidents while Vikram Singh Sisodia was elected as the General Secretary.
Ram Jakhar, R Rajendran, Mohammad Akram Khan, Manish Srivastava, Prashant Singh Raghuvanshi, Manoj Kumar Agarwal and Sameer Khan were elected unopposed as Joint Secretaries. Sanjay Mishra was elected as the Treasurer of the Association. The 12 executive members of the Association were also elected opposed .
