Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday expanded his 19-month old cabinet and inducted three MLAs in the ministry.

Governor Ramen Deka administered the oath to the new ministers at a function held in the Raj Bhawan Wednesday morning. The three ministers, who made to the Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha for the first time in the 2023 state polls, included Gajendra Yadav (MLA from Durg City), Guru Khushwant Saheb, (Arang) and Rajesh Agrawal (Ambikapur).

With the much-awaited expansion, the strength of the Vishnu Deo Sai ministry in Chhattisgarh has increased to 14 including the Chief Minister. The number is at par with the constitutional obligation of cabinet size.

The selection of three new ministers were based on the regional and caste representation in the cabinet. Raipur district, which houses state capital, had no representation in the Vishnu Deo Sai government. Guru Khushwant Saheb would meet the discrepancy. He also belongs to the Satnami Community, though the ruling BJP failed to influence its voters in the last assembly elections.

The induction of Gajendra Yadav and Rajesh Agrawal would give representation of Yadav and business community respectively in the government
