Raipur, June 4
Tourists travelling on the National Highway from Chhattisgarh capital Raipur to Bastar can enjoy an enchanting break and see nature’s loveliness from Limdarha Midway resort.
Located at Khalhemurwen in the Kondagaon district, the Limdarha Midway Resort is spread over a sprawling lush and green area of 25 acres adjacent to the Limdarha culvert. The tourists can also enjoy delicious meals with the view of the canal and the greenery of the surrounding areas.
Earlier, the culvert used to dry up in summer but due to the Narva project of the state government, water flows throughout the year. This resort is divided into three parts. The first part is the food zone, which has 10 shops, and will be available to people with a variety of food options. Another dining restaurant with a beautiful view of the culvert and the facility of staying in cottages will be available. Four shops have been allotted in the third part in which shops like C-mart, and Shabari will be present where items related to daily life will be sold.
The resort’s staff are all locals. Out of these, 50 youth will be recruited in the first year. The number of employees will be 100 in the second year and 150 in the third year and 200 by the fourth year. This will be the first fully equipped midway resort of Chhattisgarh, where national and international cuisines will be available.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today inaugurated the resort constructed at a cost of Rs 7 crore. Baghel asked the officials to start the sports activities in the campus as suggested by the tourists who were present in the resort.
The resort is also a representation of infrastructure development taking place at a fast pace in Bastar region; especially in the tourism sector. Keshkal Ghat is the gateway to Bastar and Limdarha Midway Resort is adjacent to Keshkal Ghat. The 40 cottages will be built in a couple of years. In the next six months, tourists will also be able to avail the facility of the convention hall.
Built by the district administration, the resort will be managed on the PPP model. The Raipur-based hotel chain Grand Imperia has been outsourced to run and manage the property after it quoted the highest rate of Rs 10.51 lakh per annum. The administration plans to invest it in generating employment in the district.
